| TOM FRIEDMAN PUTS WORDS IN CLINTON’S MOUTH TO THE ARABS by Emanuel A. Winston(12.1.01) Middle East Analyst & Commentator NEW YORK TIMES columnist Thomas Friedman invented a letter January 12th that outgoing President Bill Clinton might have written to the Arabs. Since both Friedman and Clinton are considered Arabists according to their standards regarding Israel, the letter is revealing in its surprising clarity and frankness - without Friedman’s usual hostile guile. Friedman has Clinton taking the Arab leaders to task, particularly their intellectuals, for keeping the Arab culture from entering the 21st Century. Friedman (as Clinton) criticizes them for not accepting a 95% deal which he (Clinton) pledged in the name of Israel. Friedman (Clinton) castigates them for their resistance to modernization, for controlling the media, pushing religious conflict, not educating their people and children, driving away foreign investment through unfriendly bureaucracies and pursuit of conflict that scares everyone away from the Middle East. Clinton (really Friedman) compares Syria and Egypt with developing countries like South Korea and China who faced and overcame similar problems which Arab nations could not or would not. He tells them that their intellectuals eat the fruit protected by the regimes that run the country. (You really must read the entire column for yourself.) In essence, Friedman (Clinton) tells us he knew all of these things even as he arranged to sacrifice the only enlightened Democratic country in the region to these backward nations. Israel who struggled through 6 wars and the expense of continuous preparedness, nevertheless advanced as a world class nation whose products benefit the whole world. Clinton/Friedman always knew that the Arab nations were a backward society who used religion as a predatory dynamic to plan and carry out attack after attack - intending to annihilate the Jewish State of Israel. Regrettably, while Clinton’s actions for 8 years ostensibly ‘wrote’ the letter, Friedman gave it exposure. It wasn’t just Clinton who knew and pursued a foreign policy crippling to Israel. The list of active anti-Israel (and therefore anti-Jewish) co-conspirators is long and includes significant holders of high office, influentials in the government, media, industry (especially oil and oil markets), education, and more. For instance, President George Bush, Sr. and James Baker, his Secretary of State, followed the same M.O. ‘Modus Operandi’. In slavish obeisance to the riches of Arab oil and their market potential, we find most of the European nations, the United Nations, the U.S. State Department. Each, following a motive of greed, were willing and tried to sacrifice the Jewish nation to satisfy the religious pathology inherent in Islam against all infidels. What they failed to realize is that the mandate of radical fundamentalist Islam holds Christians in contempt as they do Jews. The Arab world could have been lifted out of their lethargy had they not been wedded to a 7th Century doctrine which was dedicated to destroying or enslaving everyone who did not adopt their religion. An equal partnership with Israel would have allowed both societies to grow and flourish. Imagine what could have happened if the Arabs had accepted Israel as an economic engine instead of an adversary to crush. But the Arab masses, driven by primitive religious priests and backed by what passed for their intellectual elite, were only goaded onward by hate they were taught and which they taught others. For example, today the curriculum in Palestinian Authority schools teaches flagrant and egregious anti-Jewish and anti-Israel propaganda aimed to indoctrinate the children from age 4 to hate and kill Jews. In their summer camps they teach very young children how to use guns to shoot and kill Jews, how to make and throw Molotov cocktails, etc. Bill Clinton, nations of the West and their so-called intellectuals knew this all along. They knew that Israel was an advanced society in a sea of mediocrity but, that culture was Jewish. This they could not abide. The Christian teachings of centuries permeated every dark corner of their minds. How is it possible for a Jewish society, gathered up on a tiny strip of land, be so productive. Clearly, it must be the devil’s doing. Right? Better we cripple the Jewish nation and feed them to the Arabs for whatever benefits that brings us. However, it is OK to allow a scattering of Jews to remain in our society because they do have that knack of discovering new medicines and breakthroughs in physics. They are handy to have around but, to allow them their own nation and effective Army where their advanced, educated society angers the backward Arabs. That must be stopped. Yes, Clinton and rest of the civilized world know that the Arabs would rather ride the nightmare Horse of the Apocalypse, the War horse, than live in peace with the Jews. Because this is a religious war which, if they win, will allow the Muslims to be the sole resident in the House of the God they called Allah. The West knows the Arabs cannot be reasoned with. They want all (and usually wind up with nothing at all). Rather than face the Arab world now, the West would rather buy time by sacrificing the Jewish nation. However, if Israel is gone, they will still have to face the unremitting hatred of the radical Muslim Arabs who say: "First the Saturday people; then the Sunday people." |
