Winston, a Middle East Analyst & commentator The NEW YORK TIMES, as is their habit, published Saturday August 14 on The front page, with undisguised glee, that the Israeli Leftist government In coordination with Leftist professors, have been secretly re-writing Israel's history books for Israeli students. Under the Leftist Labor party this curriculum will be forced into all secular schools, revising Israel's history. The children of Israel will now be told that the facts of the past are 'only' myths and they now are to learn new 'facts'. Re-writing National Memory - as the Japanese did with their rape of Manchuria; as Neo-Nazis revise and deny the Holocaust; as the Church Evades its horrific past - so, too, now the Leftists of Israel re-write the History of the Nation of Israel. While the Palestinians have their suicide bombers and their revisionist writers, the Jewish State has her own suicide professors and politicians. Their goal is elimination of Israel's National Memory and Pride. Memory of their ancestors' victories of the recent past will be called defeats and shameful events. Leftist professors, in lock-step with Leftist politicians, have Secretly undertaken the revision of Israel's history. As the Oslo Accords were written in secrecy without alerting the Israeli public, the new textbooks are typical of what you would see during the years of Stalin and other dictators who wished to polish their image. Craven professors were always willing to re-write history, puffed up with the knowledge that they had been chosen to create the lie and breathe life into the fantasy. Now they could create history instead of merely commenting on what others had done before them. Today's Leftists would in earlier times be called Bolsheviks, Socialists, Communists but they were always the same creatures, whatever the title, merely transmogrified into a different era. They failed in each undertaking, leaving a burned-out society behind them. Then they move on to infiltrate and subvert new societies, as is happening now in Israel. Rabin appointed as Education Minister and later Communication Minister, Shulamit Aloni, well known as a rabid Leftist who hated the observant religious community and their teachings of our ancient heritage. She staged illegal raids on radio stations who contested Labor's views and did not adopt the Leftist line. She tried to stop the educational tours of Israeli students to Poland to see the death camps of Auschwitz. She insisted That the Holocaust was irrelevant past history and tried to have it stricken From Israeli curriculum. Here place has since been taken by Yossi Sarid who May be even more anti-religious than even Aloni...if that is possible. Teaching children the nation's history gives future adults who must Defend their country a sense of identity and pride. This has been true for all nations who actually had a past to be proud of. National Memory is what makes or breaks a nation. The revisionists of history may be creating a far worse crime than merely working to subvert the nation as they erase or revise the past. Carl Jung, the famous psychiatrist, understood and discoursed at length about National Memory. He understood that, to deny or dismiss the past puts the society into a vacuum wherein it cannot grow. Within the Jewish people there are those who wish to remember and those who do not. Those who do not, dislike (or hate) their heritage with such intensity, they will do everything in their power to erase it. This then is what those called the "Left" wish to do. Therefore, their present effort to teach revised history and, through the children, blank out their National Memory is a crime of major proportions. I cannot think of another race or culture where their descendants taught elimination of their past. Only an aberrant segment of our Jews who cannot abide our ancient religion, its lore and the obligations of restraint it has put upon us has chosen to corrupt and then eliminate our memory. They are dedicated to consigning the pillars of our past, Abraham, Isaac, Moses, David and the Prophets to the junkyards of history as fables and myths . They wish to cast the heroic re-birth of Israel as a 'shameful' mistake. Underlying this process is the theory: if we were no longer identified by ourselves and the world as Jews, the unrelenting pursuit of the Jewish people (no longer Jewish) would cease. Politicians and professors who hate their Jewishness and hate even more The Jewishness of others are thought criminals of the mind. They steal the thoughts of children and guide them into channels where feelings of inferiority and contempt for their forefathers are the replacement. These Leftist Jewish professors and politicians aren't very deal different from their Palestinian Arab neighbors. They, too, have re-written their text-books to fit their hostile aberrant mind-set and the delusions of revenge they wish the children to fulfill for them. Their curriculum instructs the children that Jews are evil and must be eliminated. Strange, isn't it? Arab professors allied with Arab politicians are preparing The minds of their children to despise and kill Jews throughout their adult life, while Jewish professors are teaching the very same thing - to despise the Jewishness in the Jews themselves. The NEW YORK TIMES, a Jewish owned paper, often shown to be hostile to Jews, titles their front page article: "Israel's History Textbooks Replaces Myths with Facts". Note! There is no attempt to demonstrate that perhaps the New textbook facts are the Myths. That re-history written in secret and not submitted to a test of accuracy, is exactly what was intended. A massaged spin of history met the criteria of the Leftist world view where revising history is a black art. The trick is to evolve the lie but put a thin coat of truth over it. Once the large lie is integrated with a small truth, the entire volume becomes a camouflaged lie which can no longer be separated from the facts. How did they do it? Michael Yaron, in charge of the history curriculum At the Ministry of Education began 5 years ago under PM Yitzhak Rabin, Quietly continued under PM Netanyahu, finished the new books as Barak was Elected and plans to put the first books into the 9th grade history classes. The TV series last year call Tkuma, spread a seriously re-constructed history Of the State on her 50th birthday. They had crossed the first threshold of introduction and not seeing outrage from the Jewish community proceeding into the next phase. Take for example, the Deir Yassin story: This Arab village in 1948 sat in a key position high on the hill controlling passage on the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem road. Those villagers were no different than other nearby Arab villagers who were heavily armed, hostile and aggressive. They also hosted a battle group from the Iraqi army. They had incessantly attacked Jewish convoys trying to supply food and medical supplies to Jerusalem which was under siege and cut-off by Arab armies in linkage with those same villagers. They were killing many Jews. Deir Yassin was a staging area for the villagers and regular army from various Arab armies. They were not innocents as proclaimed by the Arab nations or the Jewish Revisionists. The Jews, having had enough, sent in a commando unit in April 1948 to stop the attacks by taking over the high point. Before their attack, the Jews gave up their element of surprise by using a loud speaker to warn the villagers to leave. The Red Cross reported that 200-250 civilians from Deir Yassin were safely escorted into Jerusalem. The Jewish fighters encountered hours of heavy gunfire. Large amount of weapons and ammunition were found in the village by the Jewish forces. Their commander was killed in the first round. The fighters fought from house to house against fierce gunfire which ceased only when grenades were tossed in. Some Arabs were disguised as old women who opened fire but were wearing Iraqi military uniforms under their disguises. According to a list comprised in the Moslem offices near Al Aqsa mosque the list of those killed came to 107 and 12 wounded. Researchers from the Arab University, Bir Zeit, interviewed every Arab survivor of the battle. The exaggerations of a massacre of 254, with mutilations and sexual attacks was created by the Arabs to sow fear and start the unending propaganda which played so well in the West. The NEW YORK TIMES of April 12, 1948 treated these accusations as valid and quoted Them at length - five full paragraphs. And on April 13 the NEW YORK TIMES Added the "looting" lie to their ongoing fabrications. Since, as the Arabs said in their bid for sympathy, this was 'poor Arab village', what was there to loot? Of the 170 English language history books about Deir Yassin, 81% claimed a massacre took place without doing any original research, including main-line Jewish historians. A Deir Yassin survivor, Yune Ahmed Assad told the Jordanian newspaper Al Urdun April 9, 1953: "The Jews never intended to Harm the population of the village, but were forced to do so after they encountered fire from the population which killed the Irgun commander." By comparison, the nearby village of Abu Ghosh chose not to attack the Jews and remained untouched and sits peacefully on the Jerusalem Road today. It has been said that a lie can travel halfway across the world before The truth can catch up with it. Although the Labor party's military arm, The Haganah assisted in the battle with the Irgun and IZL, the Labor party officials utilized the propaganda factor to demonize the political strength of the Irgun and IZL and to scare the other Arabs still fighting them. Only recently is the truth beginning to filter out. But, the NEW YORK TIMES continues to sell the lie. Enter the Revisionist historians, both Arabs and Leftist Jews. The Arabs told the world that the village was merely a peaceful place And everyone was innocent. Here we find Jewish Leftists wallowing with delight, saying that, in their opinion, the Jews had no reason to attack these peaceful villagers. I think that Jewish Leftists hate the Jews more than the Arabs do. Now these same professors working on behest of Leftist politicians in and out of government are coordinating the "new" view of history with the Palestinians view as demonstrated in their new textbooks. The NEW YORK TIMES quotes a paragraph from one "new history" author Eyal Naveh in his latest textbook entitled "The Twentieth Century". He says Or rather complains: "On nearly every front and in nearly every battle, The Jewish side had the advantage over the Arabs in terms of planning, organization, operation of equipment and also in the number of trained fighters." How can that be? As of May 1948 Israel had population of 600,000 (including women, children and the elderly) leaving a small percentage of fighting age men. 6,000 of the fighters, both men and women, were killed in the War of Independence. Many of the fighters were malnourished prisoners just released from the Holocaust death camps and the concentration camps on Cyprus set up by the British. They had few arms because the British Mandate soldiers had confiscated and embargoed Jewish arms but, as they left, the British gave their major arms supplies as well as their Taggart Forts to the Arabs. The Arabs had 7 armies from Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Yemen dedicated to wiping out all the Jews in a bloody Jihad. In effect, Ayal says that it was unfair for the Jews to win the battle. He complains that there were a number of trained Jewish fighters involved In the battle. (Clearly, unfair.) But, hadn't the British trained the armies of Egypt, Jordan, while Syria also participated in the attacks. Hadn't Harry Truman embargoed all arms shipments to Israel? Didn't the Jews have to scavenge the junk yards of Europe to find World War II weapons at prices which gouged the Jewish buyers? Naveh complains that, in his new teaching textbook, the Jews had the "shameful" advantage because of better operational planning and were able to operate their junk equipment better than the well-armed and trained Arabs. (Possible?) Eyal barely conceals his bitterness of having the Jews beat the Arabs on the field of battle. This twisted attitude pervades the Leftist politicians and academics now targeting Israel's students as new recruits. This group who claims academic superiority as intellectuals, seems to have genetic flaws or a viral infection (as in computer language) which ripens at maturity and sends them off on genocidal missions to destroy their own. Perhaps we should feel pity for them as for a mentally ill family member. The only problem is that they are like serial killers who need more than one victim to satisfy their pathological urges. The newly revised history textbooks in Israel are, with malice Aforethought intended to mute and eliminate the facts of National Memory. Israel is to be made a last bastion of the now discredited social engineering as happened in Communist Russia, Cuba, East Germany, Central Europe, the Balkans. Leftists, Socialists, Communists - all the same and all failed. Given the terrible history of the Jews, harassed by other religions Through the centuries, no doubt we Jews need a gigantic Freudian couch to rid ourselves of all of our complexes. We believe that what others have said and heaped upon our fragile egos must be true. Some among us have absorbed these hostile messages to such a deep degree, that they have themselves become the teachers of calumny to their own people. Like an insect who emits a pheromone (scent) which attracts others like themselves, they have gathered under the present title of Leftist. Their light and gathering place in Israel is the Labor party and it's there that they gather to write Secret documents, often in direct cooperation with an enemy pledge to kill the Jewish population - to include the Leftist planners. Arranging the suicide of an entire people, your own people, by Destroying the minds of children should be stopped. The NEW YORK TIMES, tells us that these revised text books will only go Into the secular schools and not into the religious schools. The religiously observant remember and honor our remarkable past, keeping National Memory alive and well. The Leftists cannot penetrate this bastion of Jewish Pride and are furious. Leftist politicians and teachers, having taken away The pride of the children and parents, face major problems in the schools - No respect for teachers, drug usage, poor attendance, violence. This is The legacy of the Leftist governments. In the religious schools, there is respect for the teachers; the kids are not using drugs; there are no uprisings in class and the children attend on time. Parents who are beside themselves with uncontrollable children are trying to move their children over to the religious schools in the hopes of putting some order into their lives. Regrettably, the religious schools cannot absorb them fast enough since many come in with wild and undisciplined behavior, disturbing class learning. (This is a subject I will cover more fully in a future article.) Leftist professors cheered on by the Leftist politicians are now moving To the last phase of destroying the self-identity and self-esteem of Israel's children as Jews. Revision of history is merely one segment in a chain of Leftist plans To disassemble the Jewish nation. While seemingly separate, their giving up her land, her water, her holy sites, her defensive positions, are all part of one train of thought. The Leftists tells us that the land is not ours and we must submit to the overrule of the Arab Palestinians who, they believe, are the "original" owners. (Too bad this new brand of history writers never learned to read or do any research.) Teaching this fabrication with malice to our children now will make it easier when the time comes to abandon all of Israel and her capital Jerusalem. Then the teens and adults, having been taught the "new, unpatriotic" history, will quietly leave, believing that, despite our deep ancient heritage and roots in our Land, we have no place here - in Israel. For the aberrant Left, victory is defeat. Pride in our Jewish heritage And religion is looked upon as shameful conduct whereas honoring and Respecting other races and religions is mandatory, particularly if you fear them. The dedicated Leftists often identify significantly with their enemies, Not understanding that the intended victims will also be themselves. A case In point was when Labor was no longer in office and sensitive negotiations Were being conducted by Bibi Netanyahu, representing (more or less) the government's security position. The Labor party Leftists were reportedly in deep secret contact with Arafat's team advising them how to overcome Netanyahu's negotiators. As is usual in Israel, no one was indicted and Sent to prison for betraying one's country to her sworn enemies. I cannot help but wonder if, in their final action while in control of Israel's government, they will recommend assimilation and conversion to other religions such as Islam or Christianity. Will Jews ever shake off their feelings of inferiority, somehow, Believing their accusers and persecutors must be right? I don't think so, Particularly if those of the Left lead us with pathology that can only be described as suicidal.
